In response to public outcry over several recent decisions, a special commission has been formed to study the composition and operations of the RI Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC,  the body responsible for oversight of the states's coastal water,)  and to recommend reforms so that CRMC can better serve the public.

In November of 2021 RICAC submitted the following letter, signed by more 100 concerned citizens from across the state, detailing their thoughts on the current aquaculture permitting procedures and how best to improve that process to better reflect the interests of all stakeholders.
